Green Habitat Solutions is introducing the age-old Yurt into the Australian landscape as a new and innovative 'take' on temporary structures in a contemporary setting.

 

The Yurt has stood the test of time because of it's unique practical attributes and durability to the elements. A Yurt /Tent has a substantial timber (Willow) frame which is light, collapsible and very strong. Because they are well insulated with pure wool felt, Yurts are warm in winter and cool in summer. Evolved by nomadic people, a large 6 mtr. Yurt can be erected in as little as 1.5 hours and dismantled in 45 minutes with a 3 person team.

 

Experience has shown that a Yurt is adaptable for use in a number of contemporary applications including :

 

  • Spa/Bath-house
  • a Gazebo
  • a Pavilion or  Summer House
  • Children's play house
  • a Market Restaurant and Food Venue
  • Festival Shelter, or for creating a ceremonial atmosphere
  • Temporary Accommodation.
For the winter they can be used for Snow Camping and Cross Country Skiing. They are also an outstanding solution for Theatre and Music Performances, Festivals and Communal Ceremonies, and Sacred Spaces.


Other ideal uses are for Meetings and Conventions, as Workshop and Meditation spaces, or quiet Story Telling for school children.

 

In many cases a local council permit is not required as a Yurt is classed as a tent, a place of assembly or a temporary structure. This may well be your case so it is advisable to check with your local Planning Department.

GHS has been successful acquiring in some states a Development Approval and then Construction Approval for the larger 10 and 8 mtr. sizes.

Copies of Engineering Certificates and construction plans for platforms and concrete bases are also available.
